Noida, June 24 (IANS) Over 350 people faced legal action as police in Gautam Buddha Nagar are continuing a strict campaign against those who disrupt law and order by consuming alcohol in public places.
Special operations were conducted late into Tuesday night across the district’s three police zones — Noida, Central Noida, and Greater Noida.
During this drive, legal action was taken against more than 350 individuals for consuming alcohol in the open, creating a ruckus in public areas, and violating regulations.
According to police officials, this campaign is being conducted continuously to maintain law and order and ensure a safe environment for citizens. Drinking in public places often increases the likelihood of disputes, altercations, and other criminal incidents.
Keeping this in mind, the police carried out extensive checks in markets, malls, parks, on main roads, and in other public and sensitive areas.
This special drive was executed under the direction of Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh and the supervision of Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Rajiv Narayan Mishra.
Meanwhile, police teams led by DCP Noida Saad Miya Khan, DCP Central Noida Shailendra Kumar Singh, and DCP Greater Noida Ravi Shankar Nim conducted patrols and inspections across various areas.
During the campaign, the Noida Zone police took action against 126 individuals for public drinking. The highest number of actions, involving 179 people, was recorded in the Central Noida Zone.
Additionally, the Greater Noida Zone police took action against 64 individuals.
In total, legal action was initiated against 369 people across the three zones under Section 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police officials emphasised that consuming alcohol in public places is a legal offence that causes inconvenience to the public and disrupts peace and order.
“Such drives against offenders will continue in the future,” officials said.
The authorities have appealed to citizens to abide by the law and refrain from any form of disorder or disturbance in public places.
