Princess Anne visits Australia for Royal Australian Corps of Signals centenary

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence were warmly welcomed to Admiralty House by the Governor-General and Mr Beckett on 8 November. Upon arrival, Cammeraygal Elder Brendan Kerin performed a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony in their honour.

Princess Anne, who serves as the Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, is visiting Australia to mark the Corps’ 100th anniversary.

As part of the centenary celebrations, the Governor-General, in his role as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, will join Her Royal Highness in laying a wreath at the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park before attending a ceremonial parade at Victoria Barracks in honour of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals.

The visit highlights the long-standing relationship between the British Royal Family and Australia’s Defence Forces, as well as the shared history of service and dedication that continues to be celebrated through such occasions.
