BRISBANE, SEPTEMBER 23/INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK
The Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ), in association with the Queensland African Communities Council Inc, Queensland Muslim Inc and Universal Education & Multicultural Exchange Association Inc, recently hosted the FICQ Multicultural Dinner 2026, bringing community leaders, multicultural organisations, performers and distinguished guests together to celebrate cultural diversity, community connections and shared belonging in Queensland.
The event brought together representatives from different cultural communities and provided an opportunity to celebrate traditions and strengthen connections across Queensland.
Among the distinguished guests were Shayne Neumann MP, representing Dr Anne Aly MP; Senator Paul Scarr; Hermann Vorster MP, representing Fiona Simpson MP; Neetu Bhagotia, Consul General of India, Brisbane; Charis Mullen MP, representing Steven Miles MP; Julie-Ann Campbell MP; Mayor Teresa Harding; Jess Pugh MP; Margie Nightingale MP; Councillor Tracey Hughes; and Councillor Pye Augustine.
FICQ expressed its appreciation to community leaders, member organisations, multicultural associations, sponsors, supporters, volunteers, performers and guests whose participation contributed to the event.
The organisers said the evening reflected FICQ’s focus on bringing communities together, celebrating different cultures and traditions, and strengthening the bonds that connect Queenslanders.
The dinner also provided a platform for multicultural communities to share their cultural heritage and celebrate the diversity of Queensland.
FICQ described the event through the theme “Many Cultures, One Community. Stronger Together”, highlighting its emphasis on community connection and cultural participation.
The organisers thanked everyone involved in making the FICQ Multicultural Dinner 2026 a successful and meaningful celebration, describing it as an occasion centred on celebrating cultures and connecting communities.
