New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS) Union Minister of State and Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra on Tuesday hit out at Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, calling him the “poster boy” of anarchy and lies, and questioning his tendency to run away from discussions in Parliament.
Addressing media persons, Malhotra hit out at Rahul Gandhi for his double-faced and anarchic character, which he said was exposed by the inhuman treatment of students by the Congress-supported Jharkhand government.
“I challenge Rahul Gandhi and the entire Opposition through this press conference: Come to Parliament and discuss every issue concerning the country, from the students’ movement to every other matter. But do not run away from discussion and do not disrupt Parliament,” he said.
He said that through this press conference, Rahul Gandhi would be exposed for first attempting to hijack the students’ movement and now attempting to hijack Parliament.
Malhotra said the country was witnessing how Rahul Gandhi tried to use the youth as a political weapon from Jantar Mantar in Delhi, but within a few days, Monday’s violent suppression of the students’ movement by the Congress-supported Jharkhand government exposed his hypocrisy.
The Delhi BJP President said that Rahul Gandhi has today become the “poster boy” of anarchy, lies and hypocrisy.
Malhotra said that a few days ago, during the student protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, some criminal and anti-national elements attempted to infiltrate the stir and create violence, and also attempted to enter Parliament.
Rahul Gandhi himself sat outside the Prime Minister’s residence and began spreading false claims and misinformation about the suppression of the students’ movement, including allegations of pellet firing against them. However, what happened in Jharkhand over the past few days, particularly on Monday, has exposed the dark face of both Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party, he said.
Rahul Gandhi should come forward and tell the country when he will bring down the Hemant Soren government, which stands with Congress support. Otherwise, the country would conclude that the suppression of students in Jharkhand took place with Congress’ approval.
The Delhi BJP President said that Parliament is the constitutional forum for discussing the issues.
“Those who carry a copy of the Constitution in their pockets are not only disregarding it by running away from discussions in Parliament, but are also attempting to hijack Parliament,” he said.
The press conference was conducted by Delhi BJP Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor in the presence of State Minister Gaurav Khari and Yuva Morcha President Rajat Chaudhary. Delhi BJP Spokesperson Yaser Jilani and Media Relations Head Subhendu Shekhar Awasthi were also present.
Malhotra said that in Delhi, certain political parties formed a platform called CJP and attempted to provoke the youth under the pretext of the NEET examination paper leak. They also attempted to incite violence while demanding the resignation of the country’s transformative Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demonstrating complete sensitivity, assigned two senior Union Ministers to engage with the student leaders and accepted all their demands.
This not only brought the students’ movement to an end but also led to the passage in Parliament of a law providing for strict action against examination paper leaks, despite the Opposition’s non-cooperation, he said.
On the other hand, the Congress-supported Jharkhand government’s inhuman treatment of students on Monday is something the country will never forgive.
Malhotra said, “I am not only the State President but also a Union Minister of State. Along with the Presiding Officers of both Houses of Parliament and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, we make every effort every day to ensure that Parliament, which is being disrupted due to the obstinacy of Congress and Rahul Gandhi, is able to discuss issues concerning the country. But the Opposition remains unmoved.”
He said the Parliamentary Affairs Minister openly stated on Monday that the government is ready to debate every issue and that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is ready to participate in the discussion. However, Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition should not run away from debate.
Rahul Gandhi continues to remain adamant because he is not concerned about the students or the country; he is only disrupting Parliament to prevent the passage of several important and transformative government bills, said Malhotra.
The Delhi BJP President said that Rahul Gandhi, Congress and most of the Opposition should understand that 2029 will be the year of their political wipeout and Gen Z will be the force behind it.
