Jaipur, Aug 17 (IANS) Rajasthan Food Safety Department is conducting continuous enforcement activities across the state as part of the ‘Shuddh Aahar-Milawat Par Vaar’ (Pure Food-War on Adulteration) campaign.
Under the guidance of Food Safety and Drug Control Commissioner T. Shubhamangla and the supervision of Additional Commissioner Bhagwat Singh and Joint Commissioner Vijay Prakash Sharma, a central team of Food Safety Officers from the Jaipur headquarters inspected a private hotel in Bani Park, Jaipur, on Thursday.
During the inspection, the team collected one sample each of paneer and baati under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The samples will be sent to a food laboratory for testing, and further action will be taken under the rules based on the laboratory reports.
The team also found expired food items at the private hotel, including six packets of bread, two 1‑kg jars of peanut butter and six tins of sweet corn. The team destroyed all expired items on the spot.
The inspection further revealed that the hotel’s Chinese food menu did not include the mandatory warning about the use of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG).
The Food Safety Department will also issue a separate improvement notice to the hotel management regarding other deficiencies identified during the inspection.
The Food Safety Department reiterated that it will not compromise the quality and safety of food products in the state. Inspections of food establishments, collection of samples and enforcement action against violations will continue regularly under the ‘Shuddh Aahar – Milawat Par Vaar’ campaign.
