Jaipur, Oct 6 (IANS) The State Election Commission has revised the dates for the first three phases of the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj elections, citing religious sentiments and public concerns surrounding Dhanteras.
Under the revised schedule, polling for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members, as well as Panch and Sarpanch posts, has been advanced by one day in the first, second and third phases. There is no change to the fourth-phase schedule.
According to the revised schedule, voting for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be held on October 22, October 28, November 3 and November 14. Polling for Panch and Sarpanch posts will take place on October 24, October 30, November 5 and November 16, respectively. Under the earlier schedule, voting for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members was scheduled for October 23, October 29, November 4 and November 14. Similarly, polling for Panch and Sarpanch posts was scheduled for October 25, October 31, November 6 and November 16.
The Commission has now advanced the dates for the first three phases by one day.
For the first phase, the voting in Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections is scheduled for October 22. For Panch and Sarpanch posts, nominations will be filed on October 23, followed by polling on October 24.
The election for Deputy Sarpanch will be held on October 25.
In the second phase, the polling for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections will take place on October 28. Nominations for Panch and Sarpanch posts will be filed on October 29, with polling scheduled for October 30.
The Deputy Sarpanch election will be held on October 31.
For the third phase, voting for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti is scheduled for November 3.
Nominations for Panch and Sarpanch posts will be filed on November 4, followed by polling on November 5.
The Deputy Sarpanch election will take place on November 6.
The dates for the fourth phase remain unchanged. Voting for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be held on November 14, while polling for Panch and Sarpanch posts will take place on November 16.
The revised schedule provides clarity on the phase-wise polling dates following the Election Commission’s decision to adjust the first three phases.
