Mumbai, June 26 (IANS) The Shiv Sena Mahila Sena (Women’s Wing) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti demanding the immediate registration of a criminal case against Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut.
The women’s wing alleged that Raut has stained the cultural fabric of Maharashtra with his continuous use of obscene language, routine verbal abuse, and provocative speeches. They accused him of placing himself above the law by insulting public representatives and explicitly threatening women in public spaces. The leadership warned of an intense, “Shiv Sena-style” protest if the police fail to take immediate punitive action.
Speaking on the matter, Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Sheetal Mhatre launched a scathing attack on the UBT leader. She stated that Raut had publicly abused several newly transitioned MPs who recently left the UBT faction to join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Mhatre remarked that, driven by political malice, Raut has crossed all boundaries of decency and civility.
She said the entire state of Maharashtra has heard the audio clips where Sanjay Raut is seen verbally abusing and threatening a woman over the phone. She added that he consistently stoops to incredibly low levels to target women out of sheer spite and a desire for political vendetta.
Mhatre further noted that Raut operates under the false assumption that his status makes him immune to the law. Consequently, the Mahila Sena has submitted a written demand for the registration of an FIR and his immediate arrest under Sections 79, 196, 351, 352, 353, and 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Mhatre also raised concerns over a recent social media post featuring Raut alongside a firearm. She urged the police to investigate whether the MP possesses valid licensed weapons or if he is intentionally using such visuals on social media to instil terror and intimidation.
She pointed out that Raut regularly hurls derogatory remarks at public officials, targeting their families, spits openly at media microphones, and uses derogatory rhetoric against women. “To put an end to such toxic behavior, the Mahila Sena stepped forward today to submit this memorandum,” she added, while taking a sharp swipe at his mental stability by stating that the party has reserved a hospital bed for Raut at the Thane Mental Hospital post his arrest.
Joining the attack, Shiv Sena National Spokesperson Shaina N C alleged that Sanjay Raut seems to have taken a “contract” to completely decimate the remaining remnants of the UBT faction. She issued a stern warning that the Shiv Sena Mahila Sena will not tolerate any further disrespect toward the women of Maharashtra and will teach a strict lesson to anyone crossing the line.
