Sikh Volunteers Australia commemorates Guru Tegh Bahadurji martyrdom anniversary

Sikh Volunteers Australia organised a historic national event at the Great Hall, Australian Parliament House on 27 November 2025, marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadurji, recognised as the shield of humanity and faith. The gathering celebrated Sikh values of human rights, freedom of faith and dignity, with a message from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and addresses by MPs including Julian Hill, Basem Abdo, Rob Mitchell, Alice Jordan-Baird and David Smith.

The commemoration featured the sacred presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, langar service and an exhibition of holy relics showcasing Sikhism’s rich history, manuscripts and interfaith legacy, drawing participants from diverse backgrounds in a display of unity and compassion.
