Jammu, July 18 (IANS) Six Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were injured on Saturday in a road accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. However, officials said that no casualty occurred during this accident.
Dr Jitendra Singh MoS (PMO) and Lok Sabha member from Kathua-Udhampur constituency of J&K said on X on Saturday, “UDHAMPUR: Just now received the report of six persons, including five Amarnath pilgrims, having suffered injuries when their vehicle collided with a dumper truck near Jakhani, this morning.
“The vehicle was part of a convoy carrying more than 3,600 pilgrims that had left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for Kashmir to undertake the annual Amarnath Yatra and offer prayers at the holy cave shrine.
“No casualty. All possible assistance being provided. My office is in constant touch”.
Six people, including five Amarnath Yatra pilgrims and their driver, were injured early this morning in Jammu and Kashmir when their vehicle crashed into a parked dumper truck.
The accident occurred on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Jakhani in the Udhampur district. The five injured pilgrims are from Uttar Pradesh, and the driver is from the Ganderbal district. All were rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Udhampur for treatment.
Their vehicle was part of a larger convoy carrying over 3,600 devotees that had departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha spoke with local officials and directed them to ensure the pilgrims receive the best possible medical care. Union Minister Jitendra Singh also confirmed that every possible assistance is being provided.
Since the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 started on July 3 this year, so far, over 3.50 lakh Yatris have had Darshan inside the holy cave shrine. The 57-day-long Shri Amarnath Yatra will end on August 28 coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan festivals.
