South Australia community invited to celebrate Yoga day

SYDNEY, June 12 / INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK

The Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Sydney, in partnership with the Indian Australian Association of South Australia (IAASA), have announced a special community yoga event to mark the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21.

The programme will be held at the IAASA Community Centre in Broadview, South Australia, and is expected to bring together yoga practitioners, community members and wellness enthusiasts for a morning dedicated to health, mindfulness and wellbeing.

Organisers said the event forms part of a broader series of celebrations being conducted across New South Wales and South Australia to commemorate International Day of Yoga, which is observed globally each year on June 21.

Participants will have the opportunity to take part in guided yoga sessions designed to promote physical fitness, mental wellness and inner balance while fostering a sense of community engagement.

The gathering reflects the growing popularity of yoga across Australia and its recognition as a holistic discipline that supports healthy lifestyles and overall wellbeing.

This year’s International Day of Yoga is being observed under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, highlighting yoga’s role in encouraging mobility, resilience and wellness throughout life.

Organisers noted that the event aims to make yoga accessible to people of all ages and experience levels while encouraging greater awareness of its benefits for physical and mental health.

The programme is expected to provide a welcoming environment for participants to connect with others, learn new practices and celebrate one of India’s most enduring contributions to global wellbeing.

Community members have been encouraged to register and participate in the event, which will be held from 10 am to 12 noon at the IAASA Community Centre, 6 Blamey Avenue, Broadview.

The celebration will form part of a worldwide observance bringing together millions of people in a shared commitment to health, harmony and mindful living
