Sydney celebrates National Science Week through art and discovery

SYDNEY, AUGUST 21/INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK

 The Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Sydney, in partnership with Bandana Cultural School, celebrated National Science Week 2026 with a programme highlighting the connections between science, culture, creativity and the environment.

The programme, held on August 20, was addressed by Acting Consul General Nirav Sutariya, who spoke about the significance and contributions of science in ancient and modern India. He also highlighted India’s rich scientific heritage and its continuing journey of innovation and discovery.

The event featured a range of activities designed to encourage young minds to explore science in creative and engaging ways. These included a Vibrant dance performance on environmental issues, a science-based drama, an engaging tour of the science exhibition, and a Science Art and Craft display showcasing the creativity and imagination of participants.

The celebrations brought together science, culture and creative expression to provide an engaging experience for participants while encouraging curiosity and interest in scientific ideas.

The programme also highlighted the importance of making science accessible and inspiring for young people, while demonstrating how cultural and creative activities can complement science education.

The National Science Week celebrations in Sydney underscored the value of encouraging curiosity, creativity and a spirit of discovery among the younger generation.
