The Consulate General of India, Sydney, in association with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in Australia and Hindu Council Australia, hosted an event titled ‘Sacred Waters: Spirit & Scale of Maha Kumbh 2025’ on February 24, 2025.
The gathering brought together dignitaries who shared insights into the historical, spiritual, and cultural significance of Maha Kumbh, the world’s largest religious congregation. They emphasized how the festival represents faith, devotion, and the quest for spiritual awakening, drawing millions of pilgrims to the holy rivers for ritual bathing and prayers.
The event also showcased Uttar Pradesh as a major spiritual and cultural tourism destination, highlighting its ancient temples, the sacred ghats of Varanasi, and the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj, where the Maha Kumbh takes place. The discussion underscored the state’s rich heritage and growing appeal as a global center for spiritual tourism, inviting visitors to explore its deep-rooted traditions.
