SYDNEY, June 24 / INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK

The Consulate General of India in Sydney, in collaboration with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre and the Brahma Kumaris Adelaide Meditation Centre, organised a special programme to mark the International Day of Yoga 2026, bringing together yoga and meditation enthusiasts for an afternoon focused on holistic wellbeing.

According to the Consulate General of India in Sydney, the event was organised with the support of the Ministry of AYUSH and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations under the theme “Wellness, Wisdom and World Peace.” Nearly 40 participants attended the programme.

The event opened with a self-reflection video and live musical performances before participants took part in chair yoga and stretching exercises designed for people of all fitness levels. An interactive session on “Exploring Wisdom” encouraged discussion on the role of knowledge, intellect and life experience in achieving a balanced life.

A panel discussion examined the programme’s core themes of wellness, wisdom and world peace, offering participants practical ways to incorporate these values into their daily lives. The event concluded with a 15-minute collective meditation dedicated to world peace, followed by refreshments and fellowship.

According to the Consulate, the programme highlighted the growing interest in combining yoga, meditation and spiritual wellbeing as part of the International Day of Yoga celebrations in Australia.
