The Tamil Association of Queensland (TAQ) celebrated its 40th anniversary with a major cultural programme at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane, marking four decades of service to the Tamil community in Queensland.
The event featured performances by playback singers Senthil Ganesh and Rajalakshmi, Padma Shri awardee Velu Aasaan, Kalaimamani T. Govindaraj, Kalaimamani Anushya Sree and Super Singer title winner Nikhil.
The celebrations showcased Tamil arts and traditions through cultural performances including traditional dance, Tamil folk presentations, Parai Isai and Karagaattam.
A fashion parade highlighting traditional and cultural attire was also organised as part of the programme.
Organisers said the event recognised the association’s contribution towards promoting Tamil language, culture and heritage in Queensland since its establishment in 1986.
