New Delhi, July 30 (IANS) Tata Steel on Thursday reported a 20.8 per cent sequential decline in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), as a one-time loss weighed on its bottom line, although the company’s revenue and operating performance remained relatively resilient.
The steelmaker posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 2,318 crore in the June quarter, compared with Rs 2,926 crore in the preceding March quarter (Q4 FY26), according to the stock exchange filing.
Revenue from operations declined 3.9 per cent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 60,794 crore from Rs 63,270 crore.
At the operating level, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at Rs 9,264 crore, down 5.7 per cent from Rs 9,828 crore in the previous quarter. The company’s EBITDA margin narrowed marginally to 15.2 per cent from 15.5 per cent in the March quarter.
Tata Steel said its June-quarter earnings were impacted by a one-time loss of Rs 345 crore, which weighed on its overall profitability during the quarter.
The company reported a share of profit from joint ventures and associates of Rs 96 crore during the quarter, up from Rs 80 crore in the corresponding period last financial year.
Profit before exceptional items and tax increased to Rs 4,183 crore in Q1FY27 from Rs 3,199 crore a year ago. After accounting for exceptional items, profit before tax rose 25 per cent year-on-year to Rs 3,838 crore, compared with Rs 3,067 crore in the year-ago quarter.
Tata Steel recorded exceptional items amounting to Rs 345 crore in the June quarter, higher than Rs 132 crore in the same period last year. These comprised restructuring, redundancy and other provisions worth Rs 318 crore, an impairment provision on non-current assets of Rs 37.25 crore, partly offset by a fair value gain of Rs 10 crore on non-current investments.
