Hyderabad, Sep 16 (IANS) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday ordered a probe into the BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s landholding, including his farmhouse at Erravalli in Siddipet district.
The Chief Minister announced in the State Legislative Assembly that the inquiry will be conducted within a month.
He said the inquiry will be conducted to find out if the farmhouse of K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) is spread over 700 acres or not. He questioned why KCR did not reveal that out of 700 acres, 388 acres are government land.
“I am directing the Revenue Department, Collector, to immediately issue notice to KCR to verify the extent of land he purchased, the land available now, and who has control of about 388 acres of government land,” he said
The Chief Minister was speaking in the Assembly on the issue of Section 22A of the Registration Act, 1908, amid controversy over thousands of acres of private properties being categorised as public land under 22A.
CM Revanth Reddy announced that the government would reclaim 388 acres of government land in KCR’s farmhouse and distribute the same among 800 Dalit families.
He asked ministers Damodar Raja Narasimha, G. Vivek Venkatswamy and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy to resolve the matter within 30 days.
“If the issue is not resolved within 30 days, I will take action against the Revenue officials and ministers,” he said.
Alleging that the KCR family holds 439 acres of land, far in excess of the legal ceiling, he demanded that the Leader of Opposition explain how he mobilised these lands.
CM Revanth Reddy alleged that the KCR family owns 439.30 acres of land in 31 villages across nine districts.
Giving a break-up of these landholdings, he said the family of the former Chief Minister and his wife own 67.13 acres in Siddipet. KCR’s son K. T. Rama Rao and his family have 123 acres; KCR’s nephew and former minister T. Harish Rao and his family own 30.16 acres; KCR’s daughter Kavitha and her husband own 37.26 acres; KCR’s another nephew and former MP Jognipalli Santhosh Rao and his family own 79 acres. Other relatives Naveen Rao and Kondal Rao together own 101.14 acres.
The Chief Minister also provided details of the lands acquired by BRS leaders, including former ministers and MLAs.
The Chief Minister alleged that the KCR family was involved in a land scam of Rs one lakh crore under the guise of the Dharani portal under the BRS government. He announced that a Special Inquiry Team (SET) will be constituted to conduct an investigation.
Revanth Reddy said all the facts relating to irregularities during BRS rule will be tabled in the House in the presence of BRS members.
Last week, all BRS MLAs were suspended from the Assembly for the rest of the session for allegedly disrupting the proceedings.
Stating that Dharani Part-I irregularities have come to light, he said soon Dharani-II irregularities will be exposed.
The Chief Minister said irregularities relating to Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) lands will be exposed during the budget session.
He announced the formation of high-power officers’ committee to resolve the 22-A issue. Guidelines will be framed within a week to resolve the issue.
