Hyderabad, July 27 (IANS) Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna and Telangana Labour Minister Dr G. Vivek Venkataswamy called on Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy in New Delhi on Monday and urged him to expedite the Tadicherla-2 coal block project while ensuring maximum benefits for local people and Singareni workers.
During the meeting, the MP and the minister pressed for early completion of the Tadicherla-2 project.
They requested that at least 1,000 jobs be provided to local youth, with priority given to those from project-affected villages. They also sought comprehensive rehabilitation and resettlement facilities for displaced families.
The Centre recently decided to allocate the Tadicherla-2 Coal Block to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), a public sector company.
The Telangana leaders appealed to the Central minister to ensure a minimum monthly pension of Rs 10,000 for retired workers of Singareni
They also discussed broader development of the Singareni organisation, expansion of coal mines, infrastructure in mining-affected areas, and possible Central Government support for various initiatives.
Responding positively, Kishan Reddy assured that the proposals would be considered favourably. He promised to take necessary steps, including consultations with concerned departments, to expedite the Tadicherla-2 project, create local employment, implement the R&R package, and address the pension issue.
The MP and the state minister also met Union Minister for Labour & Employment Dr Mansukh Mandaviya. The discussions focused on employment generation, skill development, mining, infrastructure expansion, and labour welfare.
The Telangana leaders sought enhanced Central support for expanding labour welfare initiatives, creating more employment opportunities, and strengthening the implementation of Central schemes in Telangana.
Later, they also met Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary and discussed advanced skill training for youth, the development of Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), and expanding industry-oriented training programmes aligned with emerging employment needs.
Minister Vivek Venkatswamy said that the Telangana government remains committed to working in close coordination with the Union government to promote the State’s development, expand employment opportunities for youth, strengthen labour welfare, and accelerate the growth of the mining sector.
