Srinagar, Sep 7 (IANS) A boy and a girl jumped into a canal in J&K’s Ganderbal district while a man was found hanging in an apple orchard in Shopian district on Monday, police said.
Police said a search operation was launched in the Thune area of Ganderbal after a boy and a girl were reportedly seen jumping into a canal.
According to preliminary information, the boy has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Kahi, son of Mohammad Sharif Kahi, a resident of Thune. The identity of the girl has been withheld.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, a search operation was initiated in and around the canal to trace the two persons. Police in the Kangan area of Ganderbal and locals are engaged in the search operation, while further details regarding the circumstances leading to the incident are awaited.
Rescue personnel were continuing efforts to trace them, while police were also investigating the circumstances surrounding the reported incident.

Limited utilisation of professional psychological support or counselling during emotional crises accentuates the problems of teens and youth passing through extreme emotional distress.
In another incident, a 28-year-old man was found hanging in an apple orchard in the Sugoo Handhama area of Zainapora in Shopian.
Officials said the man was first spotted by locals, who subsequently informed the police.
The man has been identified as Nadeem Nazir Bhat, son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat of Sugoo Handhama.
Police soon reached the spot and took cognisance of the incident. An investigation has been initiated into the incident.
