The Telugu New Year festival of Ugadi was celebrated with enthusiasm in Perth, as the Western Australia Telugu Association Inc. organised Ugadi Vedukalu 2026, bringing together the Indian community in a vibrant display of culture and tradition.
The Consul General of India in Perth attended the event as the Chief Guest, highlighting the importance of such cultural gatherings in strengthening community bonds and preserving heritage abroad.
The celebrations featured a rich cultural programme, including music, performances and traditional presentations that reflected the spirit of the Telugu New Year. Attendees witnessed a colourful showcase of customs and community participation, creating a festive atmosphere.
Organisers said the event aimed to promote Telugu culture while fostering a sense of unity among community members in Western Australia. The strong turnout and lively participation underscored the growing presence and cultural engagement of the Telugu diaspora in the region.
