The India Australia Business & Community Alliance (IABCA) featured former New South Wales premier and former Australian High Commissioner to India, Barry O’Farrell AO, in its Leaders Spotlight Series, recognising his longstanding contribution to strengthening Australia–India relations.
With experience spanning political leadership and diplomacy, O’Farrell has played a significant role in advancing bilateral cooperation across governance, trade and strategic partnerships. As a member of the IABCA Advisory Board, he continues to support initiatives aimed at deepening institutional and community linkages between the two nations.
During the IABCA India Immersion Week 2025, O’Farrell reflected on the evolution of Australia–India engagement, noting the importance of leadership continuity, cultural awareness and institutional trust in navigating geopolitical and economic shifts. He emphasised that sustainable partnerships require more than policy alignment, calling for ongoing collaboration across government, business and community sectors.
IABCA organisers said his insights underscored the value of long-term commitment in building resilient bilateral frameworks, particularly as both countries expand cooperation in trade, investment and innovation.
In line with this focus on leadership and impact, IABCA has invited nominations for the IABCA Awards 2026, which recognise excellence in areas including trade, investment, innovation, sustainability and bilateral engagement across the Australia–India corridor.
