The Consulate General of India in Perth spearheaded multiple celebrations to mark the 11th International Day of Yoga 2025, collaborating with a diverse range of community organisations across Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Held under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” the events highlighted yoga’s universal appeal and growing significance in promoting physical and mental well-being.
In the Northern Territory, the Consulate partnered with the Indian Association of the NT Inc to organise the International Day of Yoga celebrations in Darwin, bringing together community members to participate in guided yoga practices that fostered wellness and unity.
In Western Australia, the Consulate joined hands with the Hindu Council of Australia – Perth Chapter to host a well-received yoga session that reflected both cultural pride and health awareness within the local Indian diaspora.
Another engaging celebration was held in collaboration with the Maharashtra Mandal Perth, where community families came together to perform yoga, promoting both physical health and cultural connection.
In the regional city of Bunbury, the Consulate teamed up with SWIG (Spirituality, Wellness, and Inner Growth) Bunbury, delivering a meditative and peaceful yoga session that extended the reach of the day’s message to southern WA.
A large-scale celebration was also organised with the Federation of Indian Associations of Western Australia (FIAWA), drawing enthusiastic participation from diverse community groups and reinforcing the unifying power of yoga.
Adding a spiritual dimension to the celebrations, the Consulate collaborated with the Science of Spirituality Yoga Retreat, where participants engaged in practices focused on inner peace and mindfulness.
The City of Swan also hosted its own celebration in coordination with the Consulate, further demonstrating the widespread local support for the International Day of Yoga across Perth’s metropolitan area.
The Consulate also partnered with the Isha Foundation for another impactful session that showcased the accessibility of yoga and its potential to inspire holistic living.
Together, these celebrations across cities and suburbs highlighted the deepening appreciation for India’s ancient wellness tradition. The Consulate thanked all partner organisations and participants for their valuable contributions in making the International Day of Yoga 2025 a meaningful, inclusive, and far-reaching success.
