The Indian Society of Western Australia (ISWA), in collaboration with Aspire, is organising a free workshop on June 20 aimed at helping the Indian-origin community better understand Australia’s democratic systems and institutions.
Titled “Australia’s Democracy and You,” the workshop will focus on key aspects of Australia’s political and governance framework, including the Constitution, the parliamentary system, the three levels of government and the rights and responsibilities of voting.
Organisers said the initiative is designed to help participants make informed decisions, navigate Australian systems with confidence and actively contribute to the community.
The programme will also provide guidance on voter enrolment, preferential voting and civic participation, while highlighting the importance of democratic values and informed citizenship.
Participants will receive a certificate of participation and a complimentary copy of the Australian Constitution. Light refreshments will also be served during the event.
ISWA said the workshop reflects ongoing efforts to support community engagement, civic awareness and stronger participation among Indian-origin residents in Western Australia.
