World Hindi Day celebrated with cultural programmes

Melbourne, January 12 (Indian Abroad Newsdesk) 

The Consulate General of India, Melbourne marked World Hindi Day with a vibrant cultural programme highlighting the richness and creative expression of the Hindi language.

The event featured a range of activities, including a Hindi poetry competition in junior and senior categories, cultural performances, a quiz competition, and a stage play. Participants of all ages showcased their enthusiasm and talent, reflecting the growing interest in Hindi language and literature within the community.

Addressing the gathering, the Consul General spoke about the global significance of Hindi and its role in connecting people across cultures. On the occasion, the Consul General also read out the message of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, issued to mark World Hindi Day.

Winners and participants of the various competitions were awarded prizes and felicitated during the programme in recognition of their efforts and achievements.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from noted members of the community, including Dr Peter Friedlander, Prof Arnold Dix, Dr Subhash Sharma, Dr Ved Vyathit, Yogesh Bhatt, Hindi scholars, language enthusiasts, and children. The celebration reflected the Consulate’s continued commitment to promoting Indian languages and culture among the diaspora and the wider Australian community.
