Would work keeping national interest in mind, says Kavita Patidar on being appointed BJP’s National Secretary

New Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS) Rajya Sabha member Kavita Patidar on Monday expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for assigning her the role of the party’s National Secretary.

Patidar earlier served as President of the Indore district panchayat and as a state BJP General Secretary before entering the Rajya Sabha in 2022.

Speaking to IANS, the Rajya Sabha member said, “It is a matter of great pride for me that our party has entrusted an ordinary worker like me with such a big responsibility. I thank the party’s leadership, our President Nitin Nabin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for this opportunity.”

“I have been doing the party’s work for many years now. Earlier, I was the General Secretary for the Madhya Pradesh BJP. Now, I have been given this job at the national level, so I would work keeping the national interest as my priority,” she added.

Patidar also claimed that the BJP is the only party in the country that works for women and encourages them to move forward.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party is the only party that actually does what it promises for women. If the party has spoken about women’s empowerment, then its reflection can be seen in our schemes, and its reflection can be seen in our decisions. The Bharatiya Janata Party has always trusted the leadership of women and has worked to help women and daughters move forward,” she said.

Citing the Centre’s schemes for women, the Rajya Sabha member said, “PM Modi also states that if the country has to achieve the resolve of Viksit Bharat by 2047, then women — half of this country’s population — will play a huge role in it. We have also seen that, under PM Modi’s leadership, women are becoming Lakhpati Didi on one hand and, on the other hand, they are flying fighter jets. All this transformation has been brought about because of our government’s good governance.”

BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Monday announced a comprehensive list of new national office bearers, with the appointments taking effect immediately.

The party has given Madhya Pradesh a prominent role in its new national organisational team as eight leaders from the state have been assigned key responsibilities. This will strengthen the state’s representation in the BJP’s national decision-making and organisational structure.

Apart from Patidar, some notable faces appointed to national level by the BJP include, former Madhya Pradesh Minister and senior Dalit leader Lal Singh Arya as National Vice President, Khargone MP Gajendra Singh Patel as National General Secretary, Khajuraho MP Vishnu Dutt Sharma, who headed the Madhya Pradesh BJP for over five years, as National Convener of the party’s Cell Cluster and Rajya Sabha member Bansilal Gurjar has been entrusted with the role of National President of the Kisan Morcha.
