The Consulate General of India in Sydney, in collaboration with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 with Yoga Tribe at Rouse Hill, with support from the Ministry of AYUSH and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
According to the Consulate General of India in Sydney, the programme began with a welcome address and the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolising knowledge, harmony and collective spirit. A Bharatanatyam performance by Natyokthi Dance School set the tone for the event.
Participants then joined a guided yoga session featuring asanas, pranayama and dhyana, reflecting this year’s International Day of Yoga theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The session focused on promoting physical wellbeing, mental calmness and inner balance.
The event concluded with conversations over Satvik food, providing participants an opportunity to strengthen community ties and celebrate the values of yoga. According to the Consulate, the gathering highlighted cultural harmony, holistic wellbeing and the growing engagement of the Indian community with yoga in Australia.
