Amaravati, July 21 (IANS) A day after the police lathi charge on students protesting the NEET paper leaks in the national Capital, the YSR Congress Party has called for handling of protest by students and young people with responsibility and sensitivity. The party demanded that the NDA government listen to their genuine concerns and works towards meaningful solutions.
“Democracy must not only be upheld, but must also be seen to be upheld,” reads a post on YSR Congress Party’s official handle on ‘X’.
“The protests by students and young people in New Delhi should be handled with responsibility and sensitivity. Governments must listen to their genuine concerns and work towards meaningful solutions. Peaceful protest is a fundamental democratic right. At the same time, everyone should exercise restraint and ensure that the protests remain peaceful,” it said.
The YSRCP stated that the NEET paper leak has shaken the confidence of students and parents in the examination system. This makes it essential to introduce comprehensive reforms that improve transparency, security, and accountability in the conduct of examinations, it said.
The party also flagged the issue of alleged irregularities in DSC examination in Andhra Pradesh. “In Andhra Pradesh, too, evidence has emerged regarding leaks, irregularities, and malpractice in the DSC examinations. Instead of treating the issue as a political controversy, an impartial enquiry by an independent agency is needed,” it said.
“Whether it is NEET or DSC, there should be no compromise when it comes to the future of students. Bringing out the truth, fixing systemic flaws, and taking strict action against those responsible is the duty of every democratic government,” it added.
Last month, YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had reminded Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu that Gen Z is watching all the irregularities in DSC exams.
“Remember Chandrababu, this is Gen Z. Gen Alpha is also coming. If you cause trouble instead of admitting your mistakes, cockroaches will rise,” he had said.
“We are also cockroaches in the state of Andhra Pradesh,” he had remarked when asked about the movement launched by Janata Cockroach Party after the leak of the NEET paper.
The former CM said if youth are hurt, they will take up such an approach.
