The Consulate General of India in Sydney, in collaboration with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre and the Art of Living Foundation Sydney, organised a special programme at Roselea Community Centre, Beecroft, to mark the 12th International Day of Yoga.
According to the Consulate General of India in Sydney, the event was held with the support of the Ministry of AYUSH and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and was based on this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
The programme was inaugurated by Nirav Sutariya, Consul and Acting Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre. It featured separate sessions for children and adults in line with the Common Yoga Protocol issued by the Ministry of AYUSH.
Children participated in Animal Yoga, Surya Namaskar and guided relaxation activities, while adults practised asanas, breathing exercises and deep relaxation techniques aimed at promoting physical and mental wellbeing.
According to the Consulate, around 60 community members attended the programme, reflecting growing public interest in yoga and mindful living while reinforcing the values of wellness, harmony and healthy ageing.
