The Australia India Institute recently hosted Joan Lim and Priya Virdee-Hero as part of the “Girls Run The World” Takeover Program, aimed at broadening participants’ understanding of careers in diplomacy, leadership, think tanks, and international relations.
During the program, both participants were actively involved in various aspects of the Institute’s work, contributing to written pieces and engaging with key stakeholders across the Indo-Pacific region.
As part of their experience, they interacted with organizations, including Asia Society Australia and the La Trobe Centre for Global Security. The program also provided them an opportunity to meet Consul General of India Anish Rajan, where discussions focused on the Victoria–India relationship and the day-to-day responsibilities of a Consul General.
The initiative is designed to provide practical exposure and meaningful insights into global affairs, helping participants gain a deeper understanding of international engagement and policy work.
