India’s High Commissioner to Australia Nagesh Singh has held talks with Andrew Hastie MP, Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives and Shadow Minister for Industry and Sovereign Capability, on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
According to the High Commission of India in Canberra, Singh met Hastie on September 7 for discussions on further developing the Australia–India partnership and identifying opportunities for greater cooperation.
The High Commission described the meeting as a valuable exchange on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new areas of collaboration.
Hastie is the Federal Member for Canning and serves as the Shadow Minister for Industry and Sovereign Capability. His parliamentary responsibilities include policy areas linked to Australia’s industrial and sovereign capabilities, according to his official profile and recent public engagements.
The meeting comes as Australia and India continue to broaden cooperation across strategic and economic areas, including industry, critical technologies, trade, defence and supply chains.
The engagement also follows a series of high-level contacts between the two countries as they work to translate their expanding strategic partnership into greater practical cooperation.
