India’s High Commissioner to Australia Nagesh Singh met Professor Bill Shorten at the University of Canberra’s Bruce Campus to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation between Australia and India in education, research and institutional partnerships.
According to the High Commission of India in Canberra, the meeting provided an opportunity to explore areas for further collaboration between Australian and Indian educational institutions.
The discussion focused on education and research cooperation, as well as strengthening institutional links between the two countries, the High Commission said.
Shorten is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canberra, where he leads the institution’s academic and broader strategic activities. The university has also been pursuing stronger partnerships across the ACT’s post-school education sector.
The meeting adds to a series of recent engagements by High Commissioner Nagesh Singh with Australian education and research institutions aimed at expanding Australia-India cooperation in higher education, research and innovation.
