Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, recently concluded an extensive visit to Mumbai, aimed at strengthening Australia-India ties across government, business and cultural sectors.
A key highlight of the visit was his meeting with Devendra Fadnavis, during which invitations from three Australian state premiers were conveyed, signalling a deepening of sub-national cooperation between the two countries.
The High Commissioner also engaged with industry leaders, including N Chandrasekaran, focusing discussions on investment opportunities, critical minerals and technology as key drivers of future growth.
The visit featured a cultural dimension as well, including the premiere of The Durga Chronicles, an Australian-led collaborative project exploring themes of gender empowerment through the arts.
In addition, a new partnership involving ANZ India and the Swades Foundation was announced to support solar energy and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) initiatives in rural Maharashtra under Australia’s Direct Aid Program.
The visit concluded with a “Team Australia” interaction involving representatives from government agencies and stakeholders, underlining the growing breadth of India-Australia engagement across multiple sectors.
