Consul General of India in Perth, Kajari Biswas, participated in the ANZAC Day commemorations on April 25, paying homage to fallen soldiers and highlighting the shared military heritage between India and Australia.
Observed annually as ANZAC Day, the occasion honours members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who served in wars and peacekeeping missions. The Consul General joined the ceremony to reflect on the sacrifices made by soldiers and to acknowledge the enduring bonds forged through shared history.
Biswas noted that Indian soldiers fought alongside ANZAC forces in key theatres such as Gallipoli and the Western Front during World War I, contributing significantly to the Allied war effort. She emphasised that their courage and service remain an important, though often under-recognised, part of the ANZAC legacy.
Highlighting the relevance of these historical connections today, she said the shared values of bravery, resilience, and solidarity continue to underpin the growing India-Australia partnership. The participation of Indian representatives in ANZAC commemorations also reflects the deepening people-to-people ties between the two nations.
The ceremony concluded with tributes to all those who served, reaffirming a collective commitment to peace, remembrance, and stronger bilateral relations.
