Consul General Neetu Bhagotia met with the trustees and newly appointed executive committee of GOPIO Queensland at her office, extending her congratulations to the incoming leadership team and wishing them a successful tenure.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the organisation’s activities and its ongoing contribution to strengthening community engagement among Indian Australians in Queensland.
Bhagotia congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and expressed confidence that the committee would continue to build on GOPIO Queensland’s longstanding record of community service and cultural outreach.
The discussions also focused on upcoming initiatives and opportunities to further enhance cooperation between the Consulate and community organisations in promoting Indian culture, heritage and community welfare.
A key topic of discussion was the iconic India Day Fair 2026, one of Queensland’s largest celebrations of Indian culture and multiculturalism.
The Consul General assured the GOPIO Queensland leadership of the Consulate’s continued support for the event, which attracts thousands of visitors each year and showcases India’s rich cultural diversity through performances, exhibitions, food and community participation.
Trustees and executive committee members briefed the Consul General on their plans for the coming year and reaffirmed their commitment to serving the Indian community while fostering stronger connections within Queensland’s multicultural society.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides looking forward to continued collaboration on community initiatives and preparations for India Day Fair 2026.
