The Australia India Business Council (AIBC) has marked its 40th anniversary with messages of support from senior Australian leaders, highlighting the growing importance of the Australia–India relationship and the role of people-to-people connections in strengthening bilateral ties.
Among those extending their congratulations was Governor-General of Australia Sam Mostyn, who acknowledged the enduring relationship between Australia and India and the importance of fostering strong connections between the peoples of the two nations.
AIBC expressed its appreciation to the Governor-General for her support and warm wishes as the organisation celebrated four decades of promoting business, cultural and community engagement between Australia and India.
The council also shared a special message from Silai Zaki, who represents Australia in one of India’s leading commercial and innovation hubs. AIBC noted that her experience in Chennai has provided valuable insight into the growing depth and significance of the bilateral relationship.
The organisation thanked Zaki for joining the anniversary celebrations and recognising the contribution AIBC has made in advancing Australia–India engagement over the past 40 years.
Another message was received from Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory Andrew Barr, who reflected on the evolution of Australia–India relations and the opportunities that lie ahead in areas including business, education, technology and community collaboration.
AIBC said Chief Minister Barr has long been a strong advocate for innovation, economic development and multicultural communities, and has consistently supported deeper international engagement and stronger global partnerships.
The anniversary celebrations highlighted AIBC’s role in fostering trade, investment and cultural links since its establishment four decades ago. Over the years, the organisation has worked to strengthen connections between businesses, institutions and communities in both countries.
As it marks its milestone anniversary, AIBC reaffirmed its commitment to further expanding Australia–India cooperation and building on the strong foundations of partnership, progress and people-to-people engagement that have defined its journey over the past 40 years.
