High Commissioner of India to Australia Nagesh Singh met members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Australia Chapter in Melbourne to discuss expanding India-Australia economic cooperation and strengthening partnerships across trade, investment, innovation and industry.
According to the High Commission of India in Canberra, the interaction focused on identifying new opportunities to deepen commercial engagement between businesses in the two countries and further advance the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Discussions explored ways to promote collaboration in emerging sectors while encouraging stronger industry-to-industry connections.
According to the Confederation of Indian Industry, the organisation has been actively working to strengthen business relations between India and Australia by facilitating trade, investment, technology partnerships and policy dialogue. CII said its Australia Chapter serves as a platform for companies from both countries to explore new commercial opportunities and expand bilateral cooperation.
The meeting comes as India and Australia continue to build on the momentum created by the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), which has boosted bilateral trade and encouraged businesses to explore new investment opportunities. According to the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement are continuing with the objective of further expanding trade and investment.
According to the High Commission, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening business and commercial linkages, recognising that closer industry collaboration will play an important role in driving innovation, investment and sustainable economic growth for both countries.
