India’s Consul in Perth, Naresh Kumar, attended the 24th IETE Australia International Symposium and Annual Day at Murdoch University, highlighting the growing role of Australia-India collaboration in engineering, technology and innovation.
The symposium brought together academics, researchers, engineers, industry professionals and students to discuss emerging technologies and opportunities for international collaboration.
The event was attended by Professor Don Klinger, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Murdoch University, Katy Mair, Mayor of the City of Melville, and Patrick Hall, Mayor of the City of Canning. Around 90 participants joined the programme, including delegates at Murdoch University and online attendees from several Australian cities and overseas.
During the event, Consul Naresh Kumar underscored the importance of strengthening Australia-India cooperation in science, technology, engineering and innovation. He highlighted the growing partnership between the two countries in higher education, research, advanced technologies and skills development, noting that such collaborations contribute to stronger economic and people-to-people ties.
The symposium provided a platform for experts from academia and industry to exchange ideas on technological advancements, research collaboration and future innovation. Participants discussed ways to promote knowledge sharing and strengthen links between Australian and Indian institutions.
Organised by IETE Australia, the annual symposium has become an important forum for fostering professional networking and encouraging collaboration among engineers, researchers and technology professionals across Australia and the wider Indo-Pacific region.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the importance of academic partnerships, innovation and international cooperation in addressing future technological challenges while supporting the expanding Australia-India strategic relationship.
