Families gathered for a day of food, games and community spirit as the Bihar Jharkhand Sabha Australia & New Zealand (WA Chapter) hosted Sharad Milan 2026 (Litti Chokha Utsav) at Woodman Point Reserve, Coogee.
The event celebrated the rich culinary heritage and cultural traditions of Bihar and Jharkhand, with the iconic litti chokha taking centre stage. Community members of all ages enjoyed traditional cuisine, recreational activities and cultural interaction in a festive atmosphere.
The Consul General of India in Perth, Kajari Biswas, attended the event and interacted with members of the Indian community. The gathering highlighted the role of cultural organisations in preserving regional traditions while strengthening bonds among Indian Australians in Western Australia.
Organisers said the annual event provided an opportunity for families to reconnect with their cultural roots, promote community unity and introduce younger generations to the traditions and flavours of Bihar and Jharkhand.
