The vibrant traditions of Odisha were celebrated in Western Australia as members of the Odia community gathered for Raja Parba 2026, with the Consul General of India in Perth joining the festivities and recognising the contribution of community organisations in preserving India’s cultural heritage abroad.
According to the Consulate General of India in Perth, Consul General Kajari Biswas attended Raja Parba 2026, organised by the Orioz Association of Western Australia, where she commended the association’s sustained efforts to promote and preserve Odia culture and traditions among the Indian diaspora.
The annual festival, one of Odisha’s most significant cultural celebrations, brought together families and community members to mark the occasion through cultural performances and traditional festivities reflecting the state’s rich heritage.
During the event, the Consul General formally launched Spandan, the association’s annual magazine, highlighting its role in documenting community activities and strengthening cultural connections for Odia Australians.
According to the Consulate General of India in Perth, the event underscored the growing contribution of Indian community organisations in enriching Australia’s multicultural society while preserving regional languages, traditions and cultural identity for future generations.
The celebration also reflected the strong people-to-people ties between India and Australia, with community-led cultural initiatives continuing to deepen friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.
