PERTH, SEPTEMBER 22/INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK
Consul General of India in Perth Kajari Biswas addressed an International Day of Nonviolence event organised by Ahinsa Australia Inc., led by its president Dr Mukesh Jain, bringing community members and children together for an evening highlighting the message of nonviolence.
Members and children from the community presented music, dance and a short skit as part of the programme, using cultural performances to highlight nonviolence as a principle of daily life.
The event was attended by Dr Parwinder Kaur MLC, representing Reece Whitby MLA, Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Great Southern; Basil Zempilas, Leader of the Opposition; Rikki Hendon, Secretary of Unions WA; Dr Divya Sharma, president of the Indian Society of WA (ISWA); Sarah Morris, CEO of the Police Union; and Said Padsha, Director of Community Engagement and frontline workers, along with members of the community.
The gathering provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on the values of peace, nonviolence, compassion and service to humanity, while highlighting the continuing relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s message in contemporary society.
