Special family-focused yoga event planned in Sydney for Yoga Day

SYDNEY, June 12 / INDIAN ABROAD NEWSDESK

The Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Sydney, in partnership with The Art of Living, have announced a special community yoga programme for children, youth and adults as part of celebrations marking the 12th International Day of Yoga.

The event will be held on June 21 at the Roselea Community Centre in Beecroft and is expected to bring together participants of all ages to celebrate yoga’s contribution to health, wellbeing and personal development.

Organisers have designed separate sessions for children and adults to ensure participants can experience yoga practices suited to their age group and level of experience.

A dedicated children’s session for participants up to 15 years of age will be conducted from 9.30 am to 10.30 am, while a second session for youth and adults aged 16 years and above will run from 10.45 am to 12.15 pm.

The programme forms part of a broader series of International Day of Yoga events being organised across Australia with the support of the Ministry of AYUSH and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

This year’s global observance is being celebrated under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental wellness and healthy lifestyles across all stages of life.

Organisers said the Beecroft event aims to introduce participants to the benefits of yoga while encouraging families and community members to engage in activities that support overall wellbeing.

The inclusion of dedicated children’s sessions reflects growing interest in introducing younger generations to mindfulness, physical activity and healthy habits through yoga.

The event is expected to provide an opportunity for participants to learn practical techniques for relaxation, flexibility and stress management while enjoying a sense of community and shared purpose.

Community members have been encouraged to register in advance and join the celebration, which organisers describe as a meaningful way to mark one of the world’s largest wellness movements and experience the enduring value of yoga in everyday life.
