Vishu celebrations bring community together in Canberra

The Acting High Commissioner of India attended Vishu 2026 celebrations in Canberra, marking the Malayalam New Year with members of the local community.

The event was organised by the Canberra Ayyappa Samajam and was attended by ACT Minister Suzanne Orr MLA, along with community leaders from the Hindu Council of Australia and the Canberra Malayalees Association.

The celebrations featured a range of cultural performances and included a traditional Vishu Sadhya, bringing together attendees in a festive atmosphere to mark the occasion.

The gathering highlighted the importance of cultural traditions in fostering community connections and celebrating new beginnings within Australia’s multicultural society.
